The company also specializes in the development and marketing of integrated GPS stereo camera products for applications in insurance, emergency management, and first response markets. The company’s technology uses novel integrated GPS and stereo photography to provide digital images with embedded GPS coordinates. Through the company’s proprietary image analysis software, GPS data on any objects within the captured digital image and relative distance between objects within the image can be calculated and displayed. The exact location of objects and relative distance between them on digital images can be very useful source of information for automobile accident investigations conducted by insurance companies, as well as for local police, emergency response teams, and for disaster assessment and recovery.
Kalahari Greentech’s core competencies are:
- Evaluation of projects - Management of development processes - Financing solutions
These core competencies are handled by a permanent organization. Kalahari Greentech has chosen to outsource other assignments, either because it is not profitable for the Company itself to maintain in-house expertise in these areas or because the assignments are complex and require external assessment. Experienced local developers and local advisers with in-depth industry know-how and a large network are some of Kalahari Greentech's most important partners.
Why Wind Power
There are several major benefits to wind power. One of the most important is that wind power is the least expensive of all other forms of alternative energy. Wind turbines generate electricity at around 5 cents per kWh (Kilowatt Hour), which is comparable to the new coal and/or oil burning power plants. The costs are projected to decline even more as technology improves, and this is very important because most of the cost with wind power is in manufacturing. Once the wind turbines are in place there is little cost to maintain and wind power is free.
Another tremendous benefit of wind power is that it is a sustainable source of energy and a clean source of energy. Wind power generation produces zero carbon dioxide emissions, which is important with our concern over climate change. Wind energy is also a renewable energy, meaning it does not deplete our natural resources like coal or petroleum based products.
Wind Generator
What makes Kalahari's Wind Generator different from other Wind Generators?
Kalahari Greentech’s Wind Generator concentrates wind energy in a manner such that it can generate electric power at speeds usually too slow for conventional wind generators to produce any meaningful energy, or to even operate.
Kalahari’s Wind Generator can be modified to operate in water. For instance, it can be utilized in streams, rivers and tidal basins.
Kalahari's Wind Generator is safe for birds and wildlife
Many wind generators on the market today are a hazard for birds and other wildlife. Kalahari’s Wind Generator avoids the bird strike problem. Each Kalahari Wind Generator comes standard with a shield that blocks birds from being hit by the turbine blades. The screen is sufficiently fine, such that not even a hummingbird can get through. The unit also releases short-range ultra-sonic waves that deter insects from nesting within the apparatus.
Placement of Units
Both the expansion and the work generated by the turbine while it generates electricity cool the gas back into a liquid and the cycle continues all through the solar heating cycle. The stored liquid can also be used to preheat domestic hot water, or to assist in heating a living space.
Cost Effective
Kalahari’s Wind Generators are cost effective when the energy they produce outweighs the cost of the unit. By installing at the point of greatest need, the units also eliminate the need to create an alternate energy power grid and suffer the transmission line losses.
Target Market
Research indicates that Kalahari's Wind Generator units are most cost effective in remote and rural areas.
Why Solar Power
Solar is the fastest growing energy source in the world, and for good reason. It offers a limitless supply of clean, safe, renewable energy for heat and power. And it’s more affordable, more efficient, and more reliable than ever.
The advantages of Solar and other renewable power sources are clear: greater independence from imported fossil fuels, a cleaner environment, diversity of power sources, relief from the volatility of energy prices, more jobs and greater domestic economic development. All over the world, solar energy systems have reduced the need to build more carbon-spewing fossil-fueled power plants. They are critical weapons in the battle against global warming. As the cost of solar technologies has come down, solar is moving into the mainstream and growing worldwide at 40-50% annually.
Solar Collector
About the Solar Collector
The Solar Collector addresses the matters of collector and system efficiency to build a cost-effective system. To do this, the collector operates three functions simultaneously to enhance system performance. Hence, it has been labeled as a “Tri-Brid” system.
Three Function “Tri-Brid” System
-Combination Thermal-Voltaic Collector
- Turbine with a closed circuit system that works the R-111 refrigerant from the collector to the turbine to the fluid reservoir and back to the collector. When the fluid gets to the turbine, it expands to create a gas.
- Both the expansion and the work generated by the turbine while it generates electricity cool the gas back into a liquid and the cycle continues all through the solar heating cycle. The stored liquid can also be used to preheat domestic hot water, or to assist in heating a living space.
Cost Effective
Without all three functions being performed from a single integrated system, the solar collector and support system would not be economically viable. But since all three functions take place together, Kalahari’s Solar Collector proves to be a cost-effective unit.
GPS Stereo Camera
Kalahari’s integrated GPS stereo camera was designed for applications in insurance, emergencymanagement, and first response markets. The company’s technology uses novel integrated GPS andstereo photography to provide digital images with embedded GPS coordinates. Through the company’sproprietary image analysis software, GPS data on any objects within the captured digital image and relative distance between objects within the image can be calculated and displayed. The exact location of objects and relative distance between them on digital images can be very useful source of information for automobile accident investigations conducted by insurance companies, as well as for local police, emergency response teams, and for disaster assessment and recovery.
